It’s the time of year again when people start thinking about setting New Year resolutions and goals.
One of the biggest mistakes you could make that will be a sure fire way to “write-off” the rest of the year is making New Year resolutions. This mistake is way above any others you could possibly make.
You may ask why this is so wrong. Do any of these statements sound familiar to you….
1. This year I must lose 30lbs weight in six weeks and get fit.
2. Starting from January I am going to save money every month.
3. I am going to work harder.
4. My internet based home business will fly this year
At the beginning of each New Year millions of people all around the world make their lists of resolutions. They write down all the things that they will stop doing or are going to start doing come January 1st. which with a bit of luck will last until the second week of January?
What happens? They generally get crushed by the over ambitious
choices of their self created burdens so they give up with the words that are heard every year. I guess I will just have to try again next year.
The main reason for this is that usually the resolutions made
are totally unrealistic and nine times in ten they are made from a negative standpoint such as “I have to lose 30lbs in six weeks starting January 1st”
By doing this they are doomed to fail. It is far better to decide what you want to do, something that you feel passionate about and then set a goal in order to achieve it and it is not necessary to wait for the 1st of January, it can be done at any time. If it is something that you truly want to do and is in alignment with your belief that you can do it, then here is how to go about achieving it.
1. Firstly get a vision of what you want to achieve. Imagine
yourself achieving it. Feel the emotion that you will feel when you reach this goal. This is a very important part of the process as without this you may not truly believe that you can reach your goal. You need to live as if you are already there.
2. Write it down! Write your goal down and then write how you
are going to get there in point form, step by step.
3. Set a time line for when your goal will be achieved. Just be
realistic with this, for example if you are just starting out in your internet business, don’t set a goal of making $1,000,000 in the first six months. By doing this you are doomed to fail as it is totally unrealistic.
Once you have written your goals down put them somewhere that
you will see them on a daily basis and then get down and do the
work that is required to achieve them.
